Advent calendar

Sorry folks if you think your eyes have gone funny, I'm messing about with different effects on Picasa (which I've just discovered is installed on my laptop)!   The heating engineer is still huffing and puffing installing our new boiler and flushing out all the radiators, so my workroom remains out-of-bounds and I'm trying to amuse myself ...   I'm afraid there's probably more of this to follow in future blogs, so be warned!

Yesterday I went with a couple of friends to Fleetville Vintage Emporium, in St. Albans, which I had read about on VintageRockChick's blog.    Lots of gorgeous vintage clothes which, if I was a slip of a girl, I would have loved to have owned.   We did wrestle our petite mate Anne out of her liberty bodice (it was a cavernous place with NO HEATING  - AAAARGH!) to make her try on a couple of things, but even she wasn't little enough to fit them.   But I did buy a basket, the last thing on earth I'm short of, and Charlotte bought a sweet pressed-glass cake stand.   When we got back I was in serious trouble with the plumbers, who, left to brew their own cuppas, had only been able to find Earl Grey teabags in my cupboard.   When I'm feeling stronger, I'll share with you their views on perfumed tea .....

Your advent looks way more stylish than ours! The 5 year old has started on another and is causing a major glitter shortage across the Midlands!

So glad you enjoyed your visit to Fleetville. It would be very difficult to get in and out of there without buying something!

Roaring with laughter at two things on your post: One, your mention of Picasa made me look at my desktop and find that I have it too..... (must play to find out what it does)... and two, loving the thought of builders and Earl Grey....... I am sure your day out will have revived you.

I'm laughing at the thought of your builders and the Earl Grey tea. We only have Earl Grey and my mum always makes a fuss when she comes... can't drink that nasty perfumed stuff! She even claims she can taste it in our cups when I give her a PG tea bag! Very stylish calendar by the way!

Oh dear ........ were the workers revolting? I'm sure it was an education for them. Fleetville was great fun but can we please not go back till the summer (my teeth are still chattering) - you two bullied me!

Hilarious!! My husband only drinks tea - but your average 'real' builder here is a coffee bloke! No tea for them! So they are a bit out of luck in our household - and you should see hubby's collection of perfumed teas ;-)

I did have some lady decorators once who didn't take sugar, listened to radio 4 and had sophisticated tastes in tea and coffee - they were very neat, tidy and quick as well. I am sure they would have been OK with Earl Grey!
