Trying something new - making a necklace with metal links and loops and silver wire. I had a vision of roughly what I wanted, but I don't think this is quite it! I think it's a little bit fussy, don't you?
I'm also worried that the little jump rings introduce an element of weakness into the design - not really used them in anything other than light felted earrings before - so I'll have to see how they stand up to wear-and-tear. It's quite a long neckace and I have visions of it hooking itself on to passing protuberances and pulling apart. I'm always getting doorhandles up the sleeve of my cardi as I whoosh by, or trapping my dressing-gown belt in the dishwasher and walking off. So .... long necklaces could hold all sorts of unsuspected hazards. It doesn't stretch my imagination too far to picture me hunched over the kitchen sink, tethered by the neck to the taps ....
Anyway, before RoSPA have me locked away, I just wanted to say that I am pleased with the colours together. The 'pimpled' beads are volcanic lava beads and I really love their lightness and rough texture. The little turquoise nuggets and the wooden beads are being 'repurposed', as the saying goes!

I think I like it! I like the balance between the beads and the metallic parts...the hoops. Long necklaces can bring all sort of unexpected hazards but look soooo good!
I love the mix of textures - and as for the 'weak links' I'd have thought that if you DID try to strangle yourself from the taps, the little felt flower would give way first! Your description of your clumsiness made me laugh though.
oh the colors! really like the silver introduced too...dip your toe ...
colours are beautiful. Keep dipping - looks rather French in fact. And the silver lightens it up a bit. ADORE red and blue together...
Hi Chrissie, I like your colours and long necklace..I know what you mean about getting wrapped around things..however as long as he is a big strapping man in a kilt wearing Prada aftershave, I wouldn't mind the entanglement!!!

This is wonderful, health and safety issues notwithstanding. I love the colours as well, you can't go wrong with teal and burnt orange.
I agree, the colours are beautiful together and I love the different shapes and textures. Point taken about potential hazards though and I think I'm just a little too far away to rescue you before you get sucked down the plughole!

The colour combination is lovely, sort of a transition passing from the dark of Winter in the deep red to a promise of Spring in the teal. It is all reflected off the silver rings. Perfect.

It is a beautiful necklace ut i think the contrast between, warm luxurious felt and fabrics to cold metals would feel incongruent. i'm a big fan of felted jewelry. i sometimes add wooden beads with felt, which seems to work out.
